Kevin Michael Hicar is a Senior Principal at Robert Half Executive Search, with over 16 years of executive recruiting experience. He specializes in the placement of executive leaders and senior-level specialists (managers, directors and vice presidents) across a variety of industries and functional areas. Throughout his professional career, he has successfully partnered with hiring managers, search committees and boards of directors to ensure his clients identify, acquire and retain top talent. Organizations with which Kevin works include multinational for-profit and nonprofit organizations, leading professional services firms, colleges and universities, public sector departments and agencies, foundations, small-to-medium-size companies, national associations, and research institutes.
Kevin is responsible for simultaneously managing the full lifecycle executive recruitment efforts at varying stages for multiple domestic and international clients. He has broad functional executive search experience in a number of areas, including executive leadership, finance and accounting, marketing and business development, human resources, and information technology. While nearly half of Kevin’s work has been with mission-driven organizations throughout his professional career, he has managed client engagements in wide-ranging industries, including not-for-profit, education, government, healthcare, transportation, consumer packaged goods, professional services, hospitality and travel, and information technology.
Prior to joining Robert Half Executive Search in 2009, Kevin worked for a prominent retained national executive search firm that works exclusively with not-for-profit clients, as well as one of the world’s largest, global retained executive search firms. Kevin has also provided research and analysis on information technology topics to chief information officers and their direct reports at Fortune 1000 companies, higher education institutions and government agencies as a Senior Research Associate at Gartner (formerly the Corporate Executive Board Company). In addition, Kevin has served as a university administrator at Georgetown University and a senior corporate legal assistant with Brown & Wood LLP (now Sidley Austin LLP) in New York City.
Based in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, Kevin is the division's third-most tenured employee and conducts searches throughout the United States.
Personal and Professional Activities
Kevin has been an active member of the Georgetown University Alumni Association, through which he has supported his alma mater as an alumni interviewer and a class reunion coordinator. In addition, he is an avid athlete and participates in competitive soccer and swimming events throughout the year. Kevin regularly seeks opportunities to improve his community as a native of Washington, D.C. As an LGBTQ+ professional, he has a deep interest in advancing inclusion and diversity initiatives.
Kevin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in American government from Georgetown University.
